Using version 1.20 of the agent I can specify my own rules for JMX metric collection (via otel.jmx.config property), but I need to clamp them all into a single file.
Sometimes it is more convenient to maintain a few files with the rules, so they can be selectively enabled using java options or environment variables.

The issue has been resolved by PR 7284.
