Article elements for widgets in sidebar and footer..

I was contemplating this the other day and then I saw a couple people commenting on it on the FoundationPress Demo (although they may be talking about different things). https://foundationpress.olefredrik.com/page-templates/featured-image .

What are your thoughts on changing widget areas to section elements vs article?

I am in favor of this change. If we go by the Mozilla developer docs, section makes more sense than article for widgets.

The HTML <section> element represents a standalone section of functionality contained within an HTML document, typically with a heading, which doesn't have a more specific semantic element to represent it.

vs.

The HTML <article> element represents a self-contained composition in a document, page, application, or site, which is intended to be independently distributable or reusable (e.g., in syndication). Examples include: a forum post, a magazine or newspaper article, or a blog entry.
