Nio should support different chat layouts configurable per channel/group/conversation.

The current chat layout used in Nio doesn't exactly work great with bigger groups - I think Nio should have a secondary "condensed" layout for those use cases and users should be able to configure what layout they want to use for a given chat.

This is definitely planned. There's already been a tiny bit of work in this direction by only showing user name labels above message groups in rooms with more than two people. I'd love to do more in this direction with showing avatars and using a completely different message style (no bubbles) in larger rooms. Ideally of course this setting would then also be overridable in the room settings.
