I think the hangup is that things like Embedly and/or iFrame.ly need to allow your specific service to do that sort of thing. Twitter too needs to give you specific permission for embedding videos.
I'm not fully caught up on all the requirements though, @fr3fou are you familiar with how Discord does video embeds from external links?
For Slack at least you have to get whitelisted internally to be able to embed things like a player, and they said they've basically frozen that process entirely for the time being 😢
Looks like Discord doesn't support straight oEmbed, but it might be worth seeing if we can get in touch with someone friendly.
Sending a link to a video doesn't properly embed a player in Discord (I'd guess this also applies to some other platforms too)
Note that there isn't a play button and instead only shows the thumbnail of the video.
