Description

When scanning is paused because of:

  1. Lack of accurate location data
  2. Lack of any location data
  3. Motion not being detected by the motion sensor/GPS (if enabled)

the notification still says "Scanning active", even though it might be paused.

Suggested implementation

It might be better to have the notification say something like "Standby - Paused because the motion sensor isn't detecting any motion", or "Standby - Paused because accurate location cannot be determined".

True, the notification could more clear about the scanning status. I think three distinct states would be best for this:

  • active - reports are being created
  • paused - scanning is paused because device is not moving / battery is low / etc.
  • "not working" - scanning is not working, because there is no GPS signal etc.

In the paused state, the notification could also include a button to restart scanning

It should probably make it clear that scanning was paused/put into standby automatically, with an option to "force resume" the scanning if desired.

yes, that would be nice!
that would help to determine why on one device i have pretty significant gaps of reports while an other device right beside it continues scanning with no issue. 🤨
i suspect issues with the motion sensor but that's just a pretty rough guess... and a hint via notification what is actually going on would help to take appropriate action to get the scanning working as it should.
