Add a subprocess to ensure VTR is properly communicating before recording begins

I've noticed that in order for some decks to record properly you need hit Play to get it to connect (or wake up or complete some handshake). Once that connection is made the user must rewind the tape back to the beginning (or wherever they want to start) and then they can hit Record.

I'd like to suggest an option or button that would do this play/connect/rewind subprocess when the record button is pressed. Either a second record button ("connect and record") or an option that causes this subprocess to happen whenever record is pressed.
