By default, Debian and IIRC Ubuntu both zap everything in /tmp after a reboot. The README here suggests using /tmp/aptly for long-term data persistence. I fear this could cause somebody tears, and suggest instead using a more standard path like /srv/aptly or /var/lib/aptly.
