the Minimap is a major downgrade from what we had 10 years ago

Back in 2008, we had all kinds of awesome functionality in Visual Studio with the Minimap.

We had the document margin map with different color codes. And before that,
We had BareMetal Scroll
We had RockScroll
and we had stuff like Visual Assist,
all working together.

• You could see selections, brightly highlighted in the map.
• You could see search results, brightly highlighted in the map.
• You could see different types of doc comments highlighted in the map.
• You could see errors in the map.

It was useful and great.

What do we have now?

0

We have no functionality. Only a picture of the code.
It's no longer useful for any purpose except to look cute.

What happened? Nobody understood the good functionality we had before? It is all gone?
