I've tried locally and ran into a blocking problem with native node modules. The native node modules are compiled against electron.exe and will not work with node.exe, even when using an equivalent node version.

After a handful of patches (removing the usage of native node modules from the extension host -- which are just temporary, we do want to have logging and other stuff in there...), I had a running extension host, but I saw lots of Console Hosts popping up...

I don't think it's a good idea, at least for now.
