Investigate this a little. The current largest pain point is for writing jsdocs. A few issues on the TS side that could improve this:

Report Syntax Errors in JSDocs Type Annotations TypeScript#13371 - Report syntax errors in jsdocs
Report errors (and quickfixes) for incorrect JSDoc TypeScript#15852 - Report semantic errors in jsdocs
JSDoc Does not Pick up Type imported using Require TypeScript#14056 - Fixing jsdocs handling of imports

Not too much we can do on the vscode side. I'll keep working with the TS team to see how we can make the current react checkjs workflow better
