is it possible to keep per workspace history and automcomplete with the command history?

In pycharm we are used to have very convenient history from previous session. In vscode if I open interactive window, run some command in it, then close the window, upon re-create the interactive window the history has completely gone.

The interactive window has some partial similar functionality: save as notebook, but this is not automated and inconvenient. At least there should be autosave option for the notebook, the interactive window should append to this file when close the window.

In ideal condition, this feature should be implemented to mimic the pycharm interactive window or mimic the bash history:

• there will be a centralized history for all interactive windows
• autocomplete can provide suggestion from the history
