The is a "File Explore add-on" section for previewing files that are shown in the Explorer, why not use that window to show the contents a zip file ?
Scenario when this would be used?
When this is implemented no new (useless) window should have to be opened. (With a WEIRD extra option "Autmatically close the Peek Window after is loses focus" )

Peek is just another way to present file previewers. File Explorer preview pane is another place for previewers. They are not going to merge. Also Peek does not uncompress archives, that is being tracked on #26146
