xmltodict.parse returns dict object #300

In previous versions of the xmltodict module, the parse() function returned an OrderedDict. In version 0.13.0 parse function returns a dict object.

Drop OrderedDict in Python >= 3.7

From the Python 3.7 changelog:

the insertion-order preservation nature of dict objects has been declared to be an official part of the Python language spec.
