Snowball is connected to S3

Pentabyte-scale data transport that uses security appliances to transport large amounts of data into and out of AWS.

• It is used to address high-network costs, security.
• It has 50TB or 80TB
• 256bit encryption
• TPM - Trusted Platform Module - Ensures Security and chain-of-custody of your data
• AWS securely erases data via software to avoid tampering

Edge

• 100TB
• Onboard storage and compute capacity
• In/Out of AWS
• Supports for instance, lambda functions, for local workloads on remote/offline
• Can be clustered
• Runs offline

Snowmobile

AWS Exabyte-scale data transfer used to move massive volumes of data to the cloud.

• Up to 100TB
• Secure, fast and cost-effective (for large amounts of data)

When to use it?

• At a normal internet speed, 100Mbps, 100TB take 120 days to be transfered... using 80% of the bandwidth...
