Progressive compression for JPEGs—instead of baseline—offers a much greater feel (pages don't do that janky, eery slide slowly down load) with maybe 2-5% extra bytes—well worth it.

srcset support is now acceptable: http://caniuse.com/#feat=srcset 73.36% in the US.
