I hope I am posting on the right bug tracker. Please let me know if I am not.

Firefox does not include the spell-checker of the current locale on a fresh install of Linux Mint 21.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Linux Mint 21
  2. (optional) Install the Firefox locale packages (ex: firefox-locale-fr)
  3. Launch Firefox
  4. The only available spell-checker is English (US)

What should happen

  1. Install Linux Mint 21
  2. (optional) Install the Firefox locale packages (ex: firefox-locale-fr)
  3. Launch Firefox
  4. The spell-checker of the current locale should be available and enabled

After some digging this issue is caused by the fact a missing variable in about:config.

I opened an issue on Firefox's Bugzilla, but I'm not sure they're the one who have to fix it.

Until it is fixed, you can manually add the following string variable: spellchecker.dictionary_path with the content /usr/share/hunspell.
