In our governmental archiving system program Vitam, we developped an free software Java library (mailextractlib) and GUI (mailextract) for extracting mails from:
pst, ost (with contacts, agenda and schedule meeting csv list extraction)
mbox, thunderbird hierarchy
msg
all standard protocols repo: imap, pop, gimap...
It extract mails and generate for each a standard eml version (even from pst), it also extract the attachments, and for each file a lot of metadata is associated xml files
