This is the first full release in the GNURadio 3.8 series, built off of python3 and Qt5. It contain most of the features of previous releases, and maintains several of the large changes from the pre-release.

  • This distribution is based on the modern Python 3 rather than the deprecated Python 2.
  • The UI has been updated to use Qt5 for qtgui; the old wxgui has been removed upstream.
  • GNUradio has changed a bunch of its internals, favoring a new format for block description. Many existing out-of-tree modules will need to be updated.

Built with backend support, non-exhaustively including:

  • Airspy (via osmosdr and soapy)
  • AirspyHF (via soapy)
  • BladeRF (via osmosdr and soapy; bitstreams included)
  • HackRF (via osmosdr and soapy)
  • LimeSDR (via gr-limesdr and soapy)
  • NetSDR (via soapy)
  • Pluto SDR (via soapy)
  • Red Pitaya (via osmosdr and soapy)
  • RTLSDR (via osmosdr and soapy)
  • UHD/USRP (via osmosdr and soapy)

Currently tested platforms include:

  • BladeRF
  • HackRF
  • LimeSDR
  • RTLSDR

Many thanks to @beaugunderson, who recently helped with some major improvements -- including allowing the distribution to be automatically built via CI.

This makes us feature-complete for 3.7.10.1! The remaining issues are small bug-fixes, extra features, and polish. Until those issues are sorted, we will be packaging release candidates.

With enough eyes.. Pre-release
Pre-release

This pre-release includes an upstream fix for a bug in UHD that was causing SIGSEGV. Issues recorded in #22 and #26. We are very close to being feature-complete for 3.7.10.1!

Many thanks to Michael Dickens (michaelld) for the tip!

Pre-release

This is a pre-release to get some feedback prior to becoming feature-complete for 3.7.10.1 .

Edit-20170509: Discovered Issues #22 , #26 , and #27. Note: Issues #22 and #26 can be worked-around by disabling WiFi (very odd, likely cause is in boost asio or uhd's use of boost asio). Issue #25 should be solved with latest release. N.B. From now on I will keep a "known working" pre-release as a backup to avoid not having a fallback release if a regression is found.

Edit-20170506: Fixed QT! This fix was the result of several months' of scraps of time evenings and weeekends. I know that many / most GNURadio users prefer the QT widgets, so this was a long time coming, but hopefully well appreciated from users. Enjoy!

Edit-20170422: Fixed hackrf, bladerf, and gr-osmocon .dylib breakage. Added qt-gui support, although it segfaults. Suggest using wx until further notice.

Edit-20170224: Added gr-osmodsdr with support for rtl, hackRF, bladeRF, and Airspy modules. UHD was already added some time ago. Added CBLAS and GSL to build to enable gr-fec, gr-dtv, gr-atsc and gr-wavelet support. Currently working on issue/7/get-feature-complete-for-3-7-10-1 branch and, with that, most GNURadio features should be enabled shortly.

Feedback is welcome, and please file an Issue if you come across anything that needs some love!
