The following function:

append :: Semigroup a => a -> a -> a
append = (<>)

I think it can be useful and beginner-friendly 🙂 Especially with more docs! Shouldn't break a lot of code and should be easy to move to append, since most of the append appearances on Hoogle are already for the types having the Semigroup instance.

Can't see the use for this. Beginners reading any other code will very quickly need to understand what <> means to understand what they are reading. it looks like it is just increasing the surface area of what needs to be learned and providing yet more choices: Do I use <> or append ?
