@knomedia I took my sweat time but I've started doodling with this because we have some normalization issues on some course videos.
First thing I noticed (inside of Quicktime) was this:
Left is the converted file, right is the original. Bear in mind that as you can see by the title bar of the original, Mavericks does some weird conversion to mp4/mov files which I don't understand.
That said, I see the same issue on the converted file inside of Chrome:

@olivierlacan interesting. To make sure I understand... the resulting output video is missing the first frame from the original, is that right? You might want to try to just use ffmpeg directly to see it the issue persists.
