I just visited the SourceForge discussion after a very long time. It's definitely a bit long in the tooth! You could create a dedicated Kiwix / Forum repository, here and enable the GitHub Discussions feature. Then have this as the main discussion forum for users? It would be important to put a sticky post up on Source Forge redirecting users to the new place. It was a bit nostalgic re-visiting Source Forge, because I first contacted @kelson42 via Source Forge (and got an immediate reply)! Beginning of my Kiwix journey... |
Question: besides changing a link to invite people to discuss there (and maybe close sourceforge as I'm not sure it's very active/monitored), what else is there to do? |
Just to point out that Kiwix Desktop still got 39 downloads in the last week from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/kiwix/files/ So maybe don't be too hasty to shut it down. Put a sticky in the forum to redirect people. Decide whether you want to continue distributing downloads from there. If you do, make sure it is up to date (last updated 1st May, but there have been a few package updates at least on my side since then). |
@Jaifroid plan is to shutdown forum, not the files. I will keep syncing file things manually. |
