Play Store build, on this date, is 124.0.6327.4, and at the same time, the latest pre-release on github is 124.0.6327.3.
Does updates come first on playstore???

Recommendation: Answered. Close issue.
Kiwi's reply is below this one.

Explanation:
Generally speaking, dev and beta versions will never be on the same build number. Not in Microsoft Windows, not in Chromium, nor Edge. For example, Edge and Chrome Dev and Beta builds are 2-3 major versions above the stable. In this case, I guarantee you it was done to differentiate the builds. If they are never exactly the same, then there will never be confusion on what something is. To be clear, I believe that the builds are on the exact same code base at the moment.

Changes generally go through a beta or dev channel first, people use it, and then. sometimes, the code bases come together and they are essentially the same until the next wave of changes. In Microsoft Windows, there are multiple teams, and so the Dev and Beta builds are never the same, as so many changes and tests are conducted, and out of those some are picked and some are discarded/archived. So it's not that the Paly Store comes first, it's that it came last, there for it appears as the most recent build. The changes proposed were already being tested weeks or months before, while the stable channel sits idle, then the changes are released. It's just an arbitrary number. I don't know where the maintainer is for Kiwi, but I would love to see how I can contribute since I use it every day.

When will a new change of Kiwi be released? I'm going to say it now, and then probably link to this comment as I help reply to other issues. Anyone looking to see changes to the stable channel of Kiwi, it will be a little bit. The changes generally go through the Dev version first, in almost any app. This is done to gather feedback, metrics, and statistics about any changes, and also to collect any crash reports to determine if the changes are safe to release to everyone. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people using Kiwi from the Play Store, it would be irresponsible to release changes without testing them first.

Hello,

There are actually millions of active users, not just hundreds of thousands.
It’s a big small alternative browser in some way.
I understand why many people want update, it is reasonable, but it is tough to find time and resources.

It’s nice to see people like you offering their help, it is actually very rare.

The next update is scheduled around 31th August.
From a technical perspective it is a significant upgrade in the background (and there are lot of merge conflicts to resolve between Kiwi and Chromium and this is why it is taking time).

It takes time, I understand it, but the task is actually quite big.

Arnaud.

Any very approximate idea of when Kiwi could get to version 125+?

Sorry for my selfish question.
And I've just learnt that version 124 is already very recent (April 2024).
