Type of change

  • ✅ Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)

Description and Context

The DatabaseTabWidget::unlockDatabaseInDialog returns before the dialog is completed by the user. Previously the completed signal is emitted on DBus right after the method returns. This causes issues for clients using this signal assuming the database is already unlocked.

Testing strategy

  1. lock the database
  2. use secret-tool to create an entry
  3. unlock in the pop up dialog

before:

  1. secret-tool didn't create the entry and prints an error message

now:

  1. the entry is created

This signal change could be useful in enhancing Auto-Type as well.

Not directly related to this PR, but I noticed that there is only one DatabaseOpenDialog instance. While probably not a real issue, but I can imagine there will be problems if another unlock database in dialog call comes in while the previous one hasn't finished yet.

It should be simpler and also solves the issue to just create the dialog instance in DatabaseTabWidget::unlockDatabaseInDialog. Is there any reason why it is done in the current way?

That whole relationship is rather terrible, and I agree with your assessment.
