How can you ask the original developer to close this repository? He is the person who developed this from scratch, not anybody else. The fact that he does not want to update his application does not mean that it should disappear. It is still a great application and useable. In my opinion, we should be a bit more humble and have our repositories next to jely2002's and always clearly mention that ours is a fork of the original.

The author of the forked project has mentioned that the original was by Jely2002 as per the licence agreement requirements.

I'm not suggesting deleting the repository; simply closing it (freezing) so that no more issues are created here as it appears they will no longer be addressed as there's been no updated code here for years.

The project continues in the fork by StefanLobbenmeier where issues are addressed and development is active. There's no point in keeping an abandoned project open to new issues.

By adding this issue here, directing to the fork, I'm trying to alleviate disappointment when a new user downloads the program and something doesn't work. They'll create an issue here and it'll never be fixed - a huge amount of issues here have been fixed in the fork already.

This is quite common on github; people run out of time and abandon stuff, then someone forks it and continues; there's nothing new to see here, I don't get your issue?

except its not really usable for any new user because of the "missing binary" bug

exactly, archiving it would probably be best, but not much point writing since since I doubt @jely2002 is still reading any of this. It is also quite annoying that google still thinks this is the "main" repo and searching for open video downloader does not show any links to my fork, not sure if there is something I can do about this without jely though
