Describe the bug

Jellyfin client won't start on first try on my Android TV. When i turn on my TV and then open Jellyfin app it will flash welcome screen and then show errors along these lines:

"No content to play back" or "Something went wrong a report was sent to your jellyfin server"

Immediately when i try to start it again it will launch without any issues. I can then close it again and on next try it will also start without errors. I can even turn my TV off and then retry and it will launch flawlessly. It only happens on fresh start after TV was off for some time, can't tell exactly how long but rather hours than minutes.

Exact same issue on Android TV(the chromecast one) starting from Jellyfin 10.10.1 and still occurs at 10.10.5.
I don't exactly know where this crash log goes, have tried to look it up but could not find anything specific related to this start-up "no content to play" issue.

I'm assuming it's an Android client issue rather than a jellyfin server issue.

I thought this before when I upgraded from 10.10.4 to 10.10.5 but it came back after using it a few days.
I've upgraded to .6 so will have to try it for a while and see if the issue persists.

When i turn on my TV and then open Jellyfin app

I have a similar effect on my Zidoo Android TV box. Could you wait like a minute after your TV started before you try connecting? Doesn't it work, either? On my box I have the feeling it's related to some kind of boot process, WiFi connection not established yet etc. But it doesn't work immediately with the 2nd try for me. It's just totally time related.

I also had the theory it was time related but it is weird that it doesn't happen a lot of days in a row and suddenly it does it every day when starting it for the first time on a given day.

I'm still trying some things, like for example:

  • See if the problem goes away for a while again when I restart Jellyfin
  • If I always wait 30 seconds before opening Jellyfin, then maybe the problem never shows up

I'll report back if I find something xD

I just started getting this error too.

Same behaviour: "No items to play" & crash on launch, then "Oops..."

Logs attached.

I'm having the same issue on the nvidia shield pro for quite some time. Also happens often when opening global android search links for jellyfin items or homescreen shortcuts to movies, series etc. (projectivity launcher).
