Develop a plan for OG1.0 Implementation (SOW) #291
Comments
@kerfoot Can you pls provide a status update of this plan? |
Willl do asap. I'm putting together my UG2 talk on OG1.0 for March 15 and this plan is central to that. Should have a broad plan finished soon that we can then discuss with the DAC team and broader DMAC community. |
OG1.0 was published last June. What is the current status of this issue? |
This is in progress and an update will follow soon. |
To start implementing OG1.0 into the GDAC, we need to compare two documents: [NGDAC NetCDF File Format Version 2] (https://ioos.github.io/glider-dac/ngdac-netcdf-file-format-version-2.html) and the OceanGliders 1.0 format. We'll discuss any differences and additions, focusing on how they might impact current processes and the time needed for testing and validation. |
User request- Victor Turpin ([email protected]) would benefit from OG1.0 implementation to resolve issues with different vocabularies from GDAC, Oceanglider, Ocean Ops. He is undertaking a larger project to derive metadata without the manual download of NetCDFs. |
There is a prototype for an OG compliance-checker plugin in https://github.com/uw-farlab/cc-plugin-og. |
Editing this description for clarity.
IOOS is the U.S. contribution to the GOOS, therefore IOOS is committed to implementing the elements of the OG1.0 format to bring us into compliance with GOOS/OceanGliders Program requirements. For this reason, we've committed FY23 funds towards OG1.0 implementation planning, as a first step.
Please develop a written plan for how OG1.0 format will be implemented at the GDAC. At this stage, with this year's funding, we are only looking for a plan to get everyone on the same page about what is required. This plan must be shared with / agreed upon by the GDAC team, and shared with the IOOS DMAC team.
The next step, after this plan is socialized / agreed upon, will be to identify the tasks needed to implement OG1.0. This implementation may require a phased approach, and work would not start until the next period of performance.
