Status of Ruby HTTP client libraries

• Rest Client, currently used on legacy branch: dead
• Typhoeus: looks unmaintained, plus Unable to perform a multipart PUT typhoeus/typhoeus#389 blocking issue
  • Ethon: looks unmaintained. Is this gem still maintained? typhoeus/ethon#241

• Faraday: it is maintained, it offers a level of abstraction, but:
  • The net_http default does not have "automatic" multipart support. Adding multipart support to net_http is possible, but there are some concerns about content_type not being automatically detected. I would like to avoid to reimplement mime type detection here
