I would like to request native support in the Home Assistant frontend for "popup cards" and the use of "sections view layout" within these popup cards. Here are the details of the request:
Popup Card Support: It would be incredibly useful if, in the frontend, clicking a device icon or triggering an event could open a popup card window. This card would display specific details or control options for that device, making the interface more interactive and user-friendly.
Sections View Layout Support: I would like the popup cards to include support for the sections view layout, allowing users to organize controls and data in distinct sections within the card. This way, users can view or control various aspects of a device, such as switches, brightness adjustments, and mode selection, all in one popup without navigating away from the main screen. This is especially beneficial in scenarios with multiple devices or complex setups, providing a more efficient and seamless interaction.
Use Cases:
When controlling lights, temperature, or other devices, a popup card could be triggered by clicking the device icon. Inside the card, the sections view layout would display relevant controls like switches, brightness, and temperature settings in organized sections.
For monitoring system status, clicking a device card could open a detailed view, allowing users to switch between sections for various data points or controls, making it easier to manage and review multiple items at once.
Desired Outcome: Similar to some popular smart home platforms, this feature would allow for a more compact, flexible, and intuitive layout and interaction experience in Home Assistant. I truly appreciate the attention from the development team and community members, and I hope that many others will support this suggestion to help move Home Assistant forward.
