Config of LIRC to use with lirc2mqtt

Hello :)
Since the broadlink device (Rm mini 3) I got from AliExpress doesn't work, I decided that I want to go the route with LIRC.
I'm using Home Assistant to controll my flat, originally I wanted to go with LIRC_web. But that's very outdated. So I stumbled upon your project.
In the descritpion it says that LIRC has to be in the "listen"-mode, where can I configure that?
Also want to make sure that it's possible to learn commands with this tool.

In the /etc/lirc/lirc_options.conf file you need to remove the # in the listen line

What do you mean with this? Which commands do you want to learn?
