Reproduction steps

  1. Open helix
  2. Open a file
  3. Open a split with a file in a different directory relying on ~ expansion

Expected: Buffer with file contents
Actual: Blank buffer

Example:

2021-11-15.at.16.35.06.-.Alacritty.-.CleanShot.mp4

Environment

  • Platform: macOS
  • Helix version: v0.5.0-114-g225e790
