Terraform CLI and Terraform AWS Provider Version

Terraform v1.0.0
on darwin_amd64

  • provider registry.terraform.io/hashicorp/aws v3.49.0

Affected Resource(s)

  • aws_eks_identity_provider_config

Terraform Configuration Files

Please include all Terraform configurations required to reproduce the bug. Bug reports without a functional reproduction may be closed without investigation.

resource "aws_eks_identity_provider_config" "REDACTED" {
  for_each = local.clusters

  cluster_name = each.key

  oidc {
    client_id                     = var.oidc_client_id
    identity_provider_config_name = "REDACTED"
    issuer_url                    = var.oidc_issuer_url
    groups_claim                  = "groups"
    groups_prefix                 = "oidc:"
    username_claim                = "email"
  }

  tags = merge(
    local.shared_tags,
    { REDACTED : REDACTED }
  )
}

Debug Output

╷

Expected Behavior

The provider should default to a timeout that exceeds by a comfortable margin the amount of time needed to create the resource. I would suggest something closer to an hour for both create and delete.

Actual Behavior

The default timeout for aws_eks_identity_provider_config is 25 minutes. In my attempts, associating or disassociating an EKS Identity Provider takes over 28 minutes.

Steps to Reproduce

Use the aws_eks_identity_provider_config resource to associate an identity provider to an existing EKS cluster.

Important Factoids

None known.
