Hi Could you please direct me to the code where I can change the default currency?

I tried to set locale with no success

Sure, find LANG_VALUE_1 and replace with 'currency' , make sure u put ur currency in between ' '
You can also achieve the same by changing value LANG_VALUE_1 on language.php under Admin folder.
