If you somehow manage to destroy the cube and the game can't find it, you'll see a warning message.
In that case please file a bug report.
So i'm not sure if this fully counts but we managed to do the equivalent of not being able to continue with the game thanks to the helvetica scenario. That might be intended given all the ominous warnings but in this case it was quite the negative experience.
The game did state to make sure i did all the necessary preparations... which i thought i did.
We where very diligent about saving before we first tried it. And after reworking it several times it seemed solid.
But apparently not good enough because we ran out of mineral water a few hours and handful of antimatter generations later.
Unfortunately we saved over the main save the evening before because it was bedtime then.
At that point the cube was already split without enough mineral water to recover it.
And the autosaves did not go back far enough, they too all had the cube split up already.
Maybe i missed something but i couldn't for the life of me get the cube back together.
To make mineral water i needed to to make crystals but i had no deep solution to make it from and to make deep solution i needed the cube to put in the furnace.
It all felt very unfair and annoying that right on the border of 100 hours of gameplay with a friend we basically had to start from scratch due to a bedtime-save at the wrong time. Enough to prompt me to write this and to share this negative experience.
In the end we cheated in like a hundred barrels of mineral water through the console to get the cube back.
I thought about how this experience could be improved but i think all the ones that allow you to craft like mineral water with cube dust will easily lead to unconventional superplay having 256 mineral water makers obsolete deep core mining. So not really a good option.
Then i thought about to following: maybe there could be a time based fallback, like if the cube has been split up into a gear it starts a visible countdown of like an hour. If it expires, the gear becomes a cube again and all the fragments are removed from the game.
So that after an hour of shameful waiting we would atleast get our beloved cube back. Potentially in the spot of the ziggurat that last split it apart, deleting it to add even more penalty for messing with forbidden things beyond our understanding.
Also please let me compliment you on this mod. I thoroughly enjoyed it and all the challenges in it are really awesome.
Aside from the above the experience has been absolutely pleasurable in more ways than i can put to words.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and will think if there's a way to make this better. Although I quite like the final challenge having a real risk to it.
