Just an update: even launching the binary directly does the same, i.e. process does not exit. clicking the ❌ symbol on the top right does make window close correctly. On a hunch I searched for "ghostty and CTRL D" and found this: adding Should we close this discussion? Now, "only" looking forward to GUI configuration/settings manager within ghostty, inside of editing the text file directly! One can wish!!! 🪄 |

@mitchellh I read the reasons and I have no strong opinion one way or the other, I want Ghostty to "just work". I haven't been following discussions and issues all that much either. @jcollie build info:
Clicking the ❌ exits the process, CTRL+D does not. |

ghostty built from the
main
branch on CentOS Stream 9 using XFCE as the DE.When I launch the default Terminal and then start ghostty like so:
Now, when I exit ghostty, using CTRL+D , the parent never exits;
ps -aefH
from a different terminal shows the following:Output from the first window if it helps:
Any commands which I run in ghostty keep notifying the shell's panel:
The missing icon in the notification is something which can be ignored for now as that is probably due to the custom install location of
/opt/ghostty
rather than/usr
EDIT: please ignore the desktop notifications option, I found the option to disable it!
desktop-notifications = false
