The current front page says:

Some of us team chat on the “#gtg:gnome.orgMatrix channel, mapped to the #gnome-gtg IRC channel on irc.libera.chat, to facilitate development-related discussions and coordination;

However, since then libera.chat and Matrix don't bridge in general anymore and I think (I haven't checked since weechat started to crash starting it for me...) gnome may not have a bridge in place.

Either we move to IRC, remove IRC, or keep both but remove the mention of being bridged(/"mapped"), unless they are still bridged.

As far as I understand it the bridge died a long time ago indeed; I haven't checked either, because I've been essentially forced to switch to Matrix by that event. I think we could remove IRC from the official documentations, I doubt anyone is using it. Testing with Polari now, I was not even able to join it:
