Make org-pdftools open in new buffer

If I export an org-file to pdf and want to review the pdf via C-e l o, emacs opens the file pdf with the system-default pdf-viewer. If I set it to emacs, it'll use pdf-tools but starts a separate emacs session. Is there a possibility to C-e l o an org-file and and open it automatically within a new buffer, like it does when compiling plain tex-documents?
