tail -f /tmp/wobpipe | wob is somewhat suboptimal because of the additional process.

Better: wob < /tmp/wobpipe > /tmp/wobpipe

wob doesn't actually write anything to the pipe of course; the redirection just keeps the pipe's write side open.
