Supported desktop environments

The vision of wakepy is to support any system that

• Runs python
• Is possible to keep awake.

Possible desktop environments

Unfinished items on the top of the list should have higher priority than items on the bottom (more users or more requests for wakepy support):

• Windows shell (=Windows)
• Aqua (=macOS)
• GNOME
• KDE Plasma
• Xfce (#311)

Operating systems / runtime environments

Wakepy either cares about the desktop environment or the operating system. In operating systems other than Windows and macOS, there are multiple possible desktop environments. Wakepy now checks that platform.system() returns "Linux" and only then uses KDE/Gnome but that should need not be the case.
