During the pyrolysis of EPS, shrinkage occurs, material parameters change, and there is a process of melting droplets. How should this be addressed in FDS

What is the importance of melting droplets in your assessment? Are they necessary to be simulated? What effect do you expect for them to create (e.g. Ignite a secondary source)?

You can specify reactions for a material to represent melting. Those reactions can produce gasses, other solid materials, or droplets. Details on how set solid phase reactions and identify the products of those reactions are provided in the User's Guide.

What you are doing is a research application. We cannot tell you with any level of detail how you should go about doing this.
