Announcing ModBot, the latest application supporting community transparency
In April, we began the Quality Phase – ModBot is the latest initiative seeking to create better alignment within the community and the broader network. ModBot is an application designed to help preserve openness and good-faith discussion among community members in Slack by helping to discern spam accounts from genuine users.
How Does it Work?
ModBot displays a user's workspace age and the number of other channels the user is part of as the first reply to a thread when a new message is posted. Admins have the authority to delete a message they feel are spams, remove a user from workspace who violates CoC and can ban a user from workspace. Community members can now quickly identify fake accounts and have the ability to flag posts that violate the code of conduct directly to channel moderators.
Why was it added?
The Fil Plus Mission is to incentivize data onboarding across use cases with community-governed trust mechanisms. As the primary channel of communication for Fil Plus, Slack serves an important role in building those community-governed trust mechanisms.
Equipping our Slack workspace with the best possible tools that enable the community to uphold the Code of Conduct supports transparency and protects open dialogue surrounding Fil Plus.
Looking Ahead
ModBot is an evolving community tool. It is open for anyone in the workspace to use. If you have a channel and would like to implement ModBot, propose changes, or contribute to its discussion, you can access it here.
