Router is not compatible with Polymer Neon-Animated-Pages

The documentation for the router says that its compatible with polymer and page animations, however since the release of Polymer 1.0 Google has replaced the "core-animated-pages" with "neon-animated-pages". It seems that the router was made to have transitions with the old deprecated core-animated-pages, but doesn't currently work with neon-animated-pages.

Is there currently any plans for an update? Or any quick work arounds I can do to get the router to play nice with Polymer 1.0's neon-animated-ages ?
