Hi,

I recently had trouble with firefox and totally reinstalled it without thinking about Encryptic.

This evening I wanted to access Encryptic again but the site acts as I'm connecting for the first time with this device.
I'm prompted to register or mport my data from my previous device.

I just read on encryptic.org that 'Anything you write is stored in your browser’s cache'.

I don't have any backup cache or anything from before my firefox reinstallation (except for bookmarks), does that mean I can't get my account content back ?

Could you point me to a workaround if there is any ?
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 69.0.1 on Ubuntu 18.04.03 if that can help.

Hope I didn't miss anything

Ouch. Yeah, unfortunately, it's all in your browser cache unless you have syncing set up.

A feature I've been toying with would put the files on your hard drive somewhere a little more permanent, but that would be an standalone app only feature. I don't think I could do it with the in-browser version, at least, not without plugins, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Too bad for me this time then...

So, I lost my notes when I removed and installed firefox again but what about the login ? I still have my credentials, can't I use them to log into my account again, even if my previous notes are lost ?

In the 'register or import' screen, what kind of file should I import in encryptic in the case I enabled syncing with firefox ?

I would gladly welcome a feature to keep the notes somewhere in my hard drive as I used to do with Laverna.
Do you plan to release a standalone Encryptic app in the future ?

Sorry for getting back to you so late on this.

You don't really have an "account" on any servers, so there's nothing to log into again. We do that intentionally that way so even if I (or anyone else) were compelled to try to decrypt your notes, we wouldn't have them.

If you wanted to reuse that key, you can create the same user name you had previously and import that key.

We do have a standalone app, and you can find it in the releases section. It's based on electron and it will store the notes similarly to the browser based version, but it's decoupled from your browser itself.
