Seen a couple of times when testing registration with an email address:

... which does look like it's rendering twice?

Not much non-standard about this setup. Only significant thing I can think of is that Internet connectivity is dual-stack IPv4/IPv6.

@richvdh @tim-seoss : what is the outcome of that error message? Is it still possible to complete registration or do you need to start again?

I've not seen it for ages, but iirc the error message was harmless.

@kittykat I suspect this may be a similar issue to #15142 even though it has a slightly different error message... It's possible that matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#6401 fixed this one as well.
