I would like to have a section on the bottom of the Element apps, even below low priority, for rooms that have no new unread messages and move chats there x minutes after reading them. When the chats get new messages, I would like them to return to sight.
Why would you like to do it?
It helps managing high amount of rooms in a less addictive manner, I loved having my IRC like that (WeeChat, Glowing Bear, The Lounge) and love Beeper for having this feature which shows me how useful it is for me on Matrix too.
How would you like to achieve it?
Please see the first section.
Have you considered any alternatives?
[FeatureRequest] Archive rooms #1402, but I think WhatsApp and Telegram have a design flaw that if I mute the chat, I will never read it from the archive.
Pinning unread chats to top (implemented in Element Web), but in addition to that having more cluttered feel in my opinion, it's unsupported on all mobile Elements (Element Android, ElementX Android, Element iOS and ElementX iOS).
Additional context
As I said before, this isn't an uncommon feature in IRC clients and out of Matrix clients Beeper does this, but that client being tied to their instance doesn't help with other homeservers.
I have also opened this issue towards krille-chan/fluffychat#576 with different words in case I am more clear there than here.
