In SI units, "kilobyte" or "kB" would mean 1000 bytes, whereas "KiB" is
used for 1024. Add a note in api-conventions.asciidoc to clarify the
meaning in Elasticsearch.

Since this is a community submitted pull request, a Jenkins build has not been kicked off automatically. Can an Elastic organization member please verify the contents of this patch and then kick off a build manually?

We signed the CLA already some time ago, did something change with it? Anyway, I signed it again now. Not sure if the check needs to be triggered again, or if it just needs some time to process.

Commenting triggered it. Usually when you make a PR and it isn't recognized it is because some email doesn't line up somewhere. Either way, you've got it now. Change looks good. I'll merge it and backport.
