Let's try to make sure that the data we are pulling from (our copy of) ECHO are accurate.

  • Run Cross-Program for a specific Zip Code and program (e.g. CWA violations). Report # of facilities.
  • Go to echo.epa.gov and look up the Zip Code and report the # of facilities.

Example: ZIP 70079 (in La-2)

  • ECHO shows 12 facilities with NPDES_IDs (10 major, 2 minor. This may be reflected in Cross-Program...Also, this is out of 38 facilities for all programs). 2 of these have recent violations.
  • Cross-Program shows only 10 facilities with NPDES_IDs (45 total - some of these may be inactive. ECHO shows only active ones). Confirms 2 with recent violations.

This seems like something that a class might be in a good position to do as an exercise, what do you think @saraannwylie?
