Context

Now that winter has kicked-in and there are no more leaves falling from the Maple tree (on the street), 🍁
we can finally do our pool refresh using (filtered) rain water and re-activate the pool for leisure & training! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Story

As an unfit person that loves swimming for fitness, πŸŽ„ πŸ¦ƒ 🍫 -> πŸ– πŸ™ƒ
I want to have a personal training pool where I can put in the hours πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ
So that I can get fit again. 🎯

Todo

  • Film + Photo the "before" of the pool in it's current state. T25m πŸ“·

the goal is to document the whole process from start to finish and make a "How To" video.

  • Clean the pool; remove as many of the loose leaves as possible over the next few days using net. T4d πŸ‚
  • Start emptying the pool using our submersible pump & tube into the waste water. T4d πŸ’§
  • While we are waiting for the pool to empty, tidy/clean all the surrounding areas! T2h 🧹
  • Deep clean the pool with pressure washer and scrubbing brushes T1d 🧽
  • Re-fill the pool! T1w -- thankfully the rain will help with this! 🌧️
  • Buy salt & chlorine from Leroy while we are waiting for the pool to refill ... T1h

Going to get David @d4vcsj to manage this process over the next couple of weeks. πŸ™
Need to check his shoe size and get him some wellington boots for walking in the pool. πŸ‘’

@iteles we could ask Daniel + Pedro to help with this as they did pre-summer. πŸ“²
But need to gauge their availability and price ... ⏳ πŸ’Έ
Ultimately we need to perform and document the process ourselves. πŸ“
So that it can be repeated as necessary in the future. ♻️

We've encountered issues in the past because as with everything, whenever we need support from external parties, everyone does. So ideally, if we can manage this process ourselves and create a replicable way to do it, that would be ideal for the future!

Ok. We can certainly start the process ourselves; which is just removing as many leaves as possible. πŸ‚ 🍁 ⏳

David has been diligently clearing the leaves from the pool this past week. πŸ‚πŸ’ͺ

Today Daniel and Pedro sopped by the house and showed us how to empty the pool …

The pool is finally spotlessly clean. πŸ§ΌπŸŽ‰
No nasty chemicals were used; just a pressure washer and pool scrubbing sponge πŸ§½πŸ‘Œ

Going to refill it with well water over the next few days and head to Leroy to buy Salt & Chlorine. ⏳

Don’t worry, I’ve taken stacks of photos and videos and will be adding them all to the google photos album so we can easily replay this task. πŸ“Έ

But the most important thing is that the hard part is done. Now we just have to go buy some products to keep the water clean for the next few months. πŸ›’πŸ’Έ

Pool has been full for the last week but the weather hasn’t been great, today it’s sunny: β˜€οΈ

Spa still has some rain water and leaves in it but will be finalised tomorrow:

Big pool was the priority as it was a much bigger job. πŸ‘Œ

Went past the pool supplies store, collected 100kg of pool salt:

Emptied the bags into the pool and recycled the bags.

Had already put the necessary chlorine & other stabilisers last week. The water is now fully ready to swim in. πŸ‘Œ
