upload directly to s3

hi guys,
can you incorporate the upload-directly-to-s3 feature as well?

It's just a few lines of code using the Amazon S3 SDK for PHP .. for example this: https://www.designedbyaturtle.co.uk/2015/direct-upload-to-s3-using-aws-signature-v4-php/ (and for the CORS policy ... https://www.designedbyaturtle.co.uk/2013/direct-upload-to-s3-with-a-little-help-from-jquery/ )

I not sure what further complication exists when you have to generate resized images. But for a lot of us with bad VPSes, we would much rather have all the media on S3.

FWIW this would be good for security, with read only file systems.

It’s now April 16, 2025… might be time to revisit it or update the status if plans have changed.
