I am not sure what you can 'configure', but I ran into this issue today when verifying the state of xJSFL.

xJSFL version: 1.02 branch
Repo steps:

  1. Run Commands > xJSFL > Configuration

  1. Notice Error dialog.

This issue happens on both OSX 10.10 and OSX 10.12.

Does the Adobe Animate still create windows using XUL?

This was always one of the most complicated / undeveloped bits of Flash, and never fun to debug!

The configure dialog allows you to change things like install path:

In this case, the culprit is Adobe Flash CS5, not Adobe Animate. (I am using CS5 it as my happy path to compare). I am looking into this bug.

Fixed and verified in Adobe CS5. It was some Adobe bug related to the .xul files. Just had to iterate a handful of times to hunt down the issue. Otherwise, all the functionality worked great. Nothing like a UI framework bug that can crash an entire application.
