From 4a07f179d272f914ba2aa57703cc449dcdf64f43 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Jonathan Maple Date: Wed, 31 Jul 2024 16:46:43 -0400 Subject: [PATCH] vc_screen: move load of struct vc_data pointer in vcs_read() to avoid UAF jira LE-1634 cve CVE-2023-3567 commit 226fae124b2dac217ea5436060d623ff3385bc34 upstream-diff: There is a minor conflict due to this feature is not backported - d21b0be246bf3bbf569e6e239f56abb529c7154e - vt: introduce unicode mode for /dev/vcs Since this is not done we maintained the same attr = (curron & 128) that has a slight fuzz from the original CVE backport. After a call to console_unlock() in vcs_read() the vc_data struct can be freed by vc_deallocate(). Because of that, the struct vc_data pointer load must be done at the top of while loop in vcs_read() to avoid a UAF when vcs_size() is called. Syzkaller reported a UAF in vcs_size().
